For the 12 months ending July 31, total passenger traffic at Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB) increased 1.5%, with 735,434 passengers traveling through the county-operated airport last year compared to 746,587 passengers this year.
Passenger traffic at DAB decreased 8.7% for July in comparison with the same month last year. * During the month 60,388 passengers flew in or out of the facility, compared to 66,134 passengers last July.
"Even though JetBlue accounted for 12% of our passenger traffic market share last year, each month this year we’ve continued to see positive increases on our two major carriers, American and Delta," said Airport Director Rick Karl. "Compared to last July, American Airlines passenger traffic grew by 7% and Delta Air Lines grew by nearly 5%."
Karl added: "Our market has proven, if the airlines add capacity, the community will choose to fly from DAB. This year's growth includes a 17% increase in capacity on American, but a 23% increase in passenger traffic since January, meaning demand is growing faster than supply. Record load factors and double digit passenger increases on Delta and American provide a substantial business case for additional capacity growth in 2020."
