Passenger traffic at Daytona Beach International Airport increased 7 percent in May compared with May 2012. During the month, 55,318 passengers flew in or out of the county-operated airport compared with 51,597 passengers in May 2012.
For the 12 months ending May 31, passenger traffic at Daytona Beach International Airport increased 4 percent -- from 567,998 passengers last year to 588,194 this year.
Delta Air Lines and U.S Airways offered approximately 2 percent more available seats this May compared with last May, but demand was stronger with aircraft passenger loads increasing to 90 percent, a 4 percent increase over last May.
“The traffic increase in May reflects an on-going steady picture of airline passenger traffic which we believe can continue and potentially increase,” said Rick Karl, the airport’s director. “The airport remains committed to working with existing and potential air carriers to offer more capacity and air service options for markets that are a good fit with our community.”
