American Airlines announces New York service

Posted On: December 13, 2018

American Airlines will provide seasonal service between LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB) beginning May 4.

“Since JetBlue announced it would be discontinuing service this January, the airport and county have worked diligently to recruit new air service to New York City,” said George Recktenwald, interim county manager.

“The market we developed with JetBlue created a new opportunity for American Airlines to LaGuardia,” said Rick Karl, Daytona Beach International Airport director. “We’re grateful American Airlines recognized the demand for our market and are thrilled they made the decision to expand flight options from Daytona Beach.”

The new service between DAB and LGA was part of an announcement that American Airlines would be adding 18 new routes in the summer of 2019. The carrier currently offers multiple, daily flights between Charlotte and Daytona Beach.
