The Daytona Beach International Airport welcomed a group of well-known guests this holiday season!
This Thursday, Santa, Mrs. Claus and an eager elf surprised airport passengers as they arrived at baggage claim, delivering holiday wishes and taking photos. The magic continued as gift bags filled with jars of candy appeared alongside passengers’ luggage.
The tradition started in 2012, when Rich Mather, operations agent, began dressing as Santa Claus. Pat O’Brien, administrative coordinator, joined in the fun as Mrs. Claus in 2014, and Billie Jones, administrative aide, brought the elf to life this year.
“It’s our way of showing appreciation to travelers who use Daytona Beach International Airport,” said Jay Cassens, director of business development. “We are here to serve our guests and this is one small thing we can do to say ‘thank you for choosing Daytona Beach International Airport and happy holidays.’”
Airport staff greeted seven flights from Delta, American and JetBlue, giving away 500 candy-filled jars assembled by airport staff.
