Airport traffic up 5 percent in October

Passenger traffic at Daytona Beach International Airport increased 5 percent in October. During the month 49,527 passengers flew in and out of the county-operated airport, compared to 47,075 passengers last October.

For the 12 months ending Oct. 31, passenger traffic at Daytona Beach International Airport is down less than 1 percent – from 628,240 passengers last year compared to 624,746 passengers this year.

The average passenger load factor for October was the highest of the year -- 97 percent for Delta Air Lines and American Airlines combined. During October the amount of seats offered by the airlines to Daytona Beach International Airport increased 7 percent, which is related to larger aircraft.

“We are encouraged to see the increased capacity for October and just as encouraged to see the demand for Daytona Beach International Airport meeting that increase,” said Rick Karl, the airport’s director. “We look forward to another strong holiday season and we anticipate capacity to increase steadily for the rest of the year for our existing carriers and to continue with JetBlue service starting January 7.”
