Passenger traffic in
September increases 1 percent at DBIA
Air traffic at Daytona Beach International Airport continues to
increase. Passenger traffic at the county-operated airport was up 1
percent in September, compared with September 2010.
During September 39,547 passengers flew
into and out of Daytona Beach. For the 12 months ending September 30,
passenger traffic has increased 13 percent over the prior 12 months --
from 476,288 to 538,572, according to Rick Karl, the airport’s director.
Karl said the increase in September’s
continued a consistent pattern of traffic increases that began in
November 2009. For 23 of the past 24 months the airport has experienced
positive traffic growth over the prior year. Aircraft passenger loads in
September also were strong with 92 percent of available seats filled.
The airport director said he anticipates passenger traffic will continue
to increase for the rest of this year because Delta has more seats
scheduled then during the same period last year. The U.S Airways seat
capacity remains approximately the same as last year.
“We are very pleased with the continued
increase in passenger traffic and are looking forward to a strong
year-end finish with continued traffic growth in 2012 as the economy
gains further momentum,” Karl said. “And we are continuing to purse
additional air service with our existing carriers and carriers we’d like
to see come to Daytona Beach.”
