Daytona Beach
International Airport passenger traffic up 21 percent in July
Passenger traffic at Daytona Beach
International Airport increased 21 percent in July, compared with July
2010.
During July, 48,012 incoming and
outgoing passengers passed through Daytona Beach International Airport.
This compares with 39,561 total passengers in July 2010.
For the 12 months ending July 31,
532,200 passengers traveled through the county-operated airport, a 16
percent increase over the prior 12-month period.
July’s increase follows an upward trend
beginning in November 2009 in which traffic has increased during 20 of
the last 21 months. July’s increase continues to reflect the use of
larger capacity aircraft, greater passenger loads and competitive fares
offered by Delta Air Lines and U.S. Airways, the Airport’s principal
commercial carriers. Over the past year, airport staff has been in
ongoing communication with existing airlines and others promoting new
routes and air service opportunities for the region.
Airport Director Rick Karl commented,
“We are very pleased with the continued growth in passenger traffic and
remain optimistic that the current upward trend will continue to year’s
end and beyond.”
