Traffic increases 14
percent in March at Daytona Beach International Airport
Passenger traffic at Daytona Beach International Airport increased 14
percent in March compared with the same month last year. During March,
the county-operated airport recorded 54,947 incoming and outgoing
passengers. This compares to the 49,257 travelers in March 2009.
The traffic increase in March is the
result of more seats in the market and higher passenger loads carried by
the airport’s principal carriers, Delta and U.S. Airways, according to
Steve Cooke, the airport’s business development director. During March,
91 percent of available seats were filled.
This compares with 83 percent in March
last year. The passenger increase is the fifth consecutive monthly
increase over the prior year. For the 12 months ending in March, traffic
was down 13 percent from the prior 12 months.
