February traffic decreases 1 percent at
Daytona Beach International Airport
Passenger traffic at Daytona Beach International Airport decreased 1
percent in February compared with February 2007.
During February 64,295 passengers flew in
and out of the County-operated airport. This compares with the 64,696
travelers recorded in February 2007. The decrease in February compares
with a 41 percent increase last February following introduction of low
fare service by AirTran Airways in January 2007.
Airport officials said the month’s
passenger decline is surprising in view of new US Airways service to
Charlotte that began February 1. In addition, in February there were 9
percent more seats available when compared with February 2007. Passenger
traffic for the 12 months ending in February increased 21 percent --
from 573,011 in 2007 to 695,017 in 2008.
