For the 12 months ending December 31,
705,475 passengers passed through the County-operated airport compared
with 543,248 passengers in 2006, a 30-percent increase.
“With four major carriers in Daytona
Beach, we are in a great position to offer competitive fares, and can
continue to be a leader in customer service and convenience,” said
Dennis McGee, DBIA director of aviation. “We have an exciting year ahead
of us in 2008.”
The addition of AirTran Airways was a
highlight of 2007. The carrier commenced nonstop service to Atlanta and
seasonal service to Baltimore in January.
Also last year, Continental Airlines
upgraded its equipment from 50-passenger regional jets to larger Boeing
737 aircraft. And the fourth major carrier, US Airways, joined DBIA in
February.
